Le Mortelle

Fattoria Le Mortelle, extending over 270 hectares, 170 of which are planted with vines, is located in the heart of the lower Maremma region of Tuscany, in the province of Grosseto, a few kilometers from Castiglione della Pescaia.

Since 1999 the Antinori family has worked both on the vineyards and on the construction of the new winery with the strong conviction that the area was highly predisposed to the production of high quality wines and that it was in this area that the characteristics of the terroir and of the grape varieties cultivated could be best expressed.

 The fulcrum of the cellar, the vertical connection of all the functions, consists of a helicoidal staircase that winds its way through the central well of light and puts the three floors of the cellar in functional and visual communication, following the production cycle of the natural fall line from top to bottom with the arrival of the grapes in the upper part, passing through the fermentation vats, to the refinement in barriques in the lower part.

The guided tour of the winery covers the three levels of the structure: from the grape reception area, through the vinification cellar to the fascinating barrique cellar on the lower floor, concluding with an evocative tasting of the estate’s wines.
