Rocca di Frassinello
Distance: 27 minutes
Rocca di Frassinello is an evocative winery designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, situated on the hill opposite the village of Giuncarico, in the municipality of Gavorrano, chosen by Paolo Panerai and Baron Eric de Rothschild as the ideal place to plant vineyards.
The estate covers 500 hectares, almost 83 of which are planted with vines: a choice made in the name of environmental sustainability. In fact, a constant sea breeze flows through this strategic point, removing humidity and mitigating the climate in both winter and summer.
Renzo Piano has designed a cellar with essential forms, enhancing the functionality of what is, and remains, a production facility with a revolutionary division of space and exceptional attention to the vinification process which, in its initial phase, is carried out by gravity, using the force of gravity and not wine pumps, the use of which would deteriorate the quality of grapes that are harvested exclusively by hand.
You can embark on a fascinating journey back in time, starting with a visit to the architecture of the Renzo Piano winery and ending with a wine tasting in the pavilion.
