Torre Mozza
Distance: 19 minutes
Torre Mozza beach, completely immersed in the naturalistic area of the Coastal Park of Sterpaia and 3 km from the centre of Follonica, is famous for its sand dunes, but above all because it is dominated by an ancient tower dating back to the 16th century which served as a lookout point and defence of the coast against possible Saracen incursions.
About thirty meters from the shore, an ancient Roman road emerges on the surface of the sea, which, according to legend, was a stretch of the first road on the Peninsula: the ancient Aurelia. And this is precisely the peculiarity of the beautiful Torre Mozza beach, where you have the impression of diving into a real natural pool with two different depths.
How to get to Torre Mozza?
To reach Torre Mozza from Scarlino Scalo, simply drive along the Aurelia provincial road in the direction of Follonica and after about 10 km, once you have passed the junction with the Aurelia highway, continue for another 500 meters. In the middle of a wide curve to the right, you will find an entrance on the left and, right on this road, past the overpass, you will find yourself in front of the Saracen tower and the Torre Mozza beach.
