PARCO DELL'UCCELLINA
The Uccellina Park, officially known as the Maremma Natural Park, is a protected natural area located in the region of Tuscany, along the coast of the province of Grosseto. Covering about 9,000 hectares, the park is characterized by an extraordinary variety of landscapes ranging from hills covered with Mediterranean scrub to coastal plains and pristine beaches overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The Uccellina Hills, from which the park takes its colloquial name, are the heart of the park and offer breathtaking scenery with forests of holm oaks, strawberry trees and myrtles. Various species of animals live here, such as wild boar, deer and foxes, as well as birds such as hawks, herons and many other migratory species that find refuge in the coastal marshes.
One of the distinctive features of the park is the Uccellina Tower, an ancient watchtower that dominates the landscape and offers an extraordinary panoramic view of the coast and islands of the Tuscan Archipelago. Walking along the park's paths, it is possible to come across traces of medieval history, such as towers and fortifications, as well as sites of naturalistic interest of great beauty.
The park is also renowned for its wild and unspoiled beaches, including the beach at Marina di Alberese. Accessible on foot or by bicycle, it is one of the most fascinating in the area, thanks to its golden sand and the presence of logs and woods brought in by the sea, giving it an almost primordial appearance.
The Maremma Park offers many opportunities for hiking, biking and horseback riding. There are trails of varying difficulty that allow you to discover the biodiversity of the area and immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature. It is an ideal destination for birdwatchers and those seeking an authentic connection with the natural environment.
In addition to natural beauty, the park also holds a strong agricultural tradition, with farms producing typical products such as olive oil and wine, making the park experience a complete immersion in the culture and landscape of the Maremma.
